महाराष्ट्र के लातूर गांव को मिला मुफ्त वाई-फाई कनेक्शन

A rural village in Maharashtra’s Latur district has become the first to get a free Wi-Fi connection, aiding relief to students who can now attend online lectures without having to worry about network difficulties.
Manoj Raut, a Block Development Officer (BDO), claimed that while providing free internet connection, irrelevant sites are prohibited.
“This initiative is part of the ‘Sundar Maza Gav’ (My Beautiful Village) programme proposed by divisional commissioner Sunil Kendrekar and Bala (Building as Learning Aid) initiative of Zilla Parishad CEO Abhinav Goyal which is aimed at developing the village as a smart model village,” Mr. Raut said
Sarita Yalmate, a resident of Nagtirthwadi village, which has a population of 552, told PTI that earlier, homemakers like her had little choice but to rely on their husbands to use hotspots to access the internet.
“Now, housewives need not have to wait for their husbands as the Gram Panchayat has provided free Wi-Fi connection. This is the first step in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India dream. All villagers are happy to get internet now,” she said
Twelve sound speakers were placed across the area in addition to the other activities, to relay religious music and prayers every morning. Also, morning and evening news bulletins are broadcasted through these speakers. According to authorities, this facility is also utilized to convey vital instructions to locals.
