The Crazy Crowd at Himachal: Who Will be the Responsible for the Next Wave of Pandemic?

With the number of Covid 19 cases decreasing in India, the Government has eased restrictions in various parts of the country. Tourists have flocked to Manali, Shimla, Kufri, Mussoorie, and resorts located in Himachal Pradesh to escape the scorching heat. While the surge of tourists in the hill stations certainly brought delight to the faces of hoteliers and business owners who rely on tourism for a living, it has once again raised worries about the third wave of Covid-19.

Himachal appears to have prioritized survival over life during the pandemic. Thousands of tourists visit the state every day, potentially opening the door to an early third wave if Covid Protocols are disobeyed.

Delay in monsoon and the rising temperature in the urban areas are the main reason why these hill stations are receiving an overflow of tourists. The other reason that can be looked upon as the commencement of interstate bus services. The tourist flow is expected to decrease after 15 July when the monsoon showers may bring down the temperature in urban cities.
