Three dead, 14 injured in terror attack on police bus in Srinagar
Three Jammu and Kashmir armed police personnel were killed and 14 were injured after terrorists attacked a police bus. The attack happened near a police camp at Zewan on the outskirts of Srinagar on Monday evening, police said. While two policemen ASI Ghulam Hassan & SgCT Safique Ali died Monday evening, Constable Rameez Ahmad succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday morning.
Kashmir Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar said to the media, “Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM)’s offshoot, Kashmir Tigers has claimed responsibility.”
Jaish-e-Mohammed is a Pakistan-based group that has been designated a terror organization by India and the United Nations, as well as the UK and US.
The Prime Minister’s Office said in a tweet, “PM @narendramodi has sought details on the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. He has also expressed condolences to the families of that security personnel who have been martyred in the attack.”
Former Chief Minister of Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti offered her condolences. She tweeted, “GOIs (government of India’s) false narrative of normalcy in Kashmir stands exposed yet there has been no course correction. My condolences to the bereaved families.”
Omar Abdullah, former Chief Minister of Kashmir also expressed his condolences and tweeted, “Terrible news of a terror attack on a police bus on the outskirts of Srinagar. I unequivocally condemn this attack while at the same time sending my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased & prayers for the injured.”
