TMC Delegation Meets Home Minister Amit Shah

On Thursday Trinamool Congress (TMC) delegation led by MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay including Derek O’ Brien, Mahua Moitra met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the Parliament and urged him to remove the West Bengal Governor in view of the Birbhum incident.

In Lok Sabha TMC MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay said that 21 people have been arrested so far in the Birbhum violence matter.

“Issue of Birbhum violence was discussed, PM Modi also commented on it. We’ve had conversation regarding it with Home Minister Amit Shah as well. He talked about stringent punishment being given to perpetrators. 21 people have been arrested so far,” Sudip Bandyopadhyay said in LS.

Meanwhile, Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee met and spoke with the victim’s family members and gave them Rs 5 lakh compensation to each 10 affected families. She also announced an extra Rs 2 lakh for each household to rebuild homes burnt down in the incident. One member of each family will also get a job, she said.
