Yogi Adityanath takes oath as UP CM for record second consecutive term

On Friday Yogi Adityanath took oath as the Uttar Pradesh chief minister for the second consecutive term at a mega event at Lucknow’s Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak were also sworn in as deputy UP chief ministers.

The event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and many other dignitaries.

Yogi Adityanath has become the first chief minister of Uttar Pradesh in 37 years to return to power.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated Yogi Adityanath and tweeted, “Hearty congratulations to Shri Yogi Adityanath for taking oath again as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. With the inspiration of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and under the leadership of Yogiji, the resolve to build a new and developed Uttar Pradesh should be fulfilled in the next 5 years, this is my best wishes to him.”

The BJP-led alliance won a total of 273 seats out of 403 seats which is way past the required mark of 202 seats, while the alliance led by the main opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) bagged 125 seats.
