India with highest number of internet shutdowns for 4th time in a row

India for the fourth consecutive year has emerged as the country with the highest number of internet shutdowns, a report released by tech policy think tank Access Now has found. Reasons for internet shut down ranges from curbing protests to preventing online frauds.

The report by Access Now stated that in 2021, authorities deliberately shut down the internet at least 182 times across 34 countries.

And out of the 182 times, the report stated that India has blacked out the internet at least 106 times.

India topped the list by a longshot compared to others at the top of the list which include Myanmar (at least 15 times), Sudan and Iran (both at least five times each).

Out of the total 106 shutdowns, 85 were found in Jammu and Kashmir alone.

“India disrupted the internet at least 106 times — making it the world’s leading perpetrator of Internet Shutdowns for the fourth consecutive year. 85 were in the Jammu and Kashmir region, where authorities have imposed the world’s longest-running shutdowns,” said Access Now.

Canon EOS R5 review: The mirrorless for professionals

The camera is the size of regular Canon DSLR and not smaller as we have come to expect with mirrorless. It is also heavy, especially with the 24-105mm lens I used for the review. But it is the kind of heavy that professionals are used to, which actually translates into a reassurance when it comes to professional photography.

Canon EOS R5, Canon EOS R5 review, Canon, Should you buy Canon EOS R5, Canon EOS R5 rating, Canon EOS R5 specifications, Canon EOS R5 faetures, Canon EOS R5 photos, Canon EOS R5 price, Canon EOS R5 price in India, Canon EOS R5 India price

The camera offers a good grip and has all the dials and rings you expect to see, where you expect to find them. There is an always-on LCD on top where you can see the settings and a new rating button, which I have not encountered before. The 3.15-inch LCD screen is touch-enabled so you can use this for everything in case the buttons are too old fashioned for you. The ring next to it does not click and my muscle memory of having used older Canon cameras made me keep pushing it to no effect. To move through photos, you just have to turn the ring here. But for those upgrading to the EOS R5 from any other Canon, there is very little learning involved.

Watch the debate with Must Read Alaska

The first of three presidential debates is Tuesday, Sept. 29, on Fox and C-SPAN, and other channels and websites. While MRAK readers will be watching from all over the state and the nation, they can talk to each other on Must Read Alaska’s Facebook page, which will have a debate discussion starting at about 5 pm Alaska time. The debate features President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden facing off at Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio.Biden, who is 77 years old, has been scarcely seen in public this month and is said to have been preparing for the debate, which will be moderated by Chris Wallace of Fox. During his preparation drills, former Obama White House counsel Bob Bauer has been playing the role of Donald Trump in mock debate sessions.Biden reportedly asked the debate commission that there be a break every 30 minutes during the 90-minute debate, but the Trump camp has refused that request, saying the president doesn’t need breaks.President Donald Trump, 74, has been out on the campaign trail and holding rallies across the country. He doesn’t appear to have spent much time preparing for the debate. The six topics for the event are: The Trump and Biden records, the Supreme Court, Covid-19, the economy, race and violence in our cities, and the integrity of the election, according to the Commission of Presidential Debates.Pollsters say most voters have already decided who they are voting for in the presidential election, but as many as 11 percent have not made up their minds, according to a NBC/Wall Street Journal poll. Depending on where those voters are, they could be pivotal to the success of the candidates.Tune into the debate at 5 pm Alaska time and then check the Must Read Alaska Facebook page, where there will be a discussion and a meme war going on during the 90-minute debate, moderated by Suzanne Downing from an undisclosed location in District 28, and John Quick, who will be monitoring and responding from District 29, Nikiski.
