12 Rajya Sabha MPs suspended for the rest of Winter Session

The Rajya Sabha on the first day of its business for the Winter Session on Monday suspended 12 of its members. The 12 MPs include Elamaram Kareem from CPM, Phulo Devi Netam, Chhaya Verma, R Bora, Rajamani Patel, Syed Nasir Hussain, Akhilesh Prasad Singh from INC, Binoy Viswam from CPI, Dola Sen & Shanta Chhetri from TMC and Priyanka Chaturvedi, Anil Desai from Shiv Sena.
“From District Court to Supreme Court, an accused is heard even there, lawyers are provided for them too, sometimes Govt officials are sent to take their version. Here our version wasn’t taken” said Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi to ANI.
This is totally undemocratic; the murder of democracy & the Constitution. We’ve not been given the opportunity to be heard. This is a one-sided, biased, vindictive decision. Opposition parties haven’t been consulted said Chhaya Verma to ANI.
SP MP Jaya Bachchan also said, “In so many years that I’ve been here, this is the first time I’m seeing this kind of environment. Bill was passed in absolute chaos. I feel that a special Parliament protection bill should now be passed. Small parties don’t get the chance to speak” as reported by ANI
