18 killed and several injured in a horrific road accident in Nadia, West Bengal

At least 18 people were killed and 5 others injured in a road accident that took place in West Bengal’s Phulbari area of Nadia district late on Saturday night.
As per officials of the Hanskhali police station, people in a matador car were on its way to the Nabadeep crematorium to cremate a body from Bagda of North 24 Parganas and the matador hit a stone-laden truck in Nadia district which was parked on the side of the road. At least 18 people died on spot, as reported by ANI.
Governor of West Bengal Jagdeep Dhankhar on Sunday expressed sympathy about the deaths and said “Deeply pained at reported death of 18 people and 5 others injured in Nadia District after the vehicle they were traveling in collided with a truck parked on the side of the road”.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her condolences on the loss of lives in the Nadia road accident and said “Government of West Bengal will extend every necessary assistance and support to the kin of the victims. We are beside you in this sad hour.”
Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed his condolences on the accident and said “My condolences to the people who lost their lives in this accident. God help them in this difficult situation. I wish the injured a speedy recovery.
