Bengal Governor Dhankhar Summons Chief Secretary And DGP Over Hanskhali Rape Case & Ram Navami clashes

Concerned over the current law and order situation in West Bengal, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar summoned Chief Secretary and State Police DG to Raj Bhavan. On Tuesday, Governor of West Bengal Jagdeep Dhankhar summoned the Chief Secretary and State Police DG of the state to brief him on the alleged gang rape of the 14-year-old girl in Nadia and also on the alleged atrocities on Ram Bhakts during Ram Navami processions.

“Urgent response of Chief Secretary be sought on alleged gangrape death of 14-year-old girl in Nadia as also atrocities on Ram Bhakats on Ram Navami. Both these issues have been raised today by Leader of Opposition Shri Suvendu Adhikari who called on the undersigned and sought thorough probe. According to LOP both incidents highlight worrisome state of crime against women & nose diving law & order scenario in the state. CS be called upon to render his report on both counts earliest, latest by April 13, 2022,” said Governor on Tuesday.

The two administrative officials have been asked to brief Governor by 4 pm on Wednesday.

“In view of this, both Chief Secretary and the DGP be called upon to brief the undersigned on these incidents, as already indicated, latest by 4 P.M. on April 13, 2022,” Governor added.
