‘Come again’, says PM Modi to 72 retiring Rajya Sabha members

On Thursday Prime Minister Narendra Modi bid farewell to the 72 Rajya Sabha MPs who retired from their positions. He said that the experience of the members of Parliament was more valuable than academic knowledge.

Bidding farewell to the 72 Rajya Sabha MPs PM Modi said, “Though this is a farewell but as they say in Bengali, ‘Ami aaschi’ or in Gujarati – ‘Aao jo’ – ‘come again’. That’s what we want to say ‘Come again’.

PM Modi said that experience has more power than academic knowledge. He also said that all MPs should take their rich experiences to all parts of the country.

“Our RS Members have a lot of experience..sometimes experience has more power than academic knowledge,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister added, “We have spent a long time in this Parliament. This House has contributed a lot to our lives, more than we have contributed to it. The experience gathered as a member of this House should be taken to all four directions of the country.”

A total of 72 members are retiring from the Rajya Sabha, including Anand Sharma, AK Antony, Subramanian Swamy, M C Mary Kom, Swapan Dasgupta.
