Former Assam Congress President Ripun Bora on Sunday joined the All India Trinamool Congress in Kolkata and on Monday Ripun Bora said that he is convinced only TMC can fight BJP. Ripun Bora resigned on a few policy and ideological matters, ANI reported.

ANI quoted Ripun Bora saying, “I was associated with the Congress party for nearly 40 years. I’ve no grievance against the Congress & its leaders. I resigned on a few policy and ideological matters.”

“The way BJP has grown has threatened the social fabric of the country. Congress being the grand old party should have fought the BJP but there was a lot of fighting within the party. I am convinced only TMC can fight BJP,” Ripun Bora was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

On Sunday evening Bora tweeted, “From today I have started my new political journey!” and also shared his resignation letter, addressed to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

“I have been associated with INC since 1976, right from my student life and during this long period I served the party at different capacity with party and constitutional posts, but today with heavy heart, I tender my resignation,” Bora wrote in his resignation letter.
