Mamata Banerjee Thanks Voters As TMC Sweeps Bengal Bypolls

On Saturday, Trinamool Congress (TMC) swept the Asansol Lok Sabha seat and the Ballygunge Assembly constituency continues in West Bengal, continuing its winning streak in West Bengal politics.

In Ballygunge, TMC’s Babul Supriyo won by more than 20,000 votes with a total of 51,199 compared to the nearest contender, CPI(M)`s Saira Shah Halim who received 30,971 votes.

In the Asansol Lok Sabha constituency, TMC candidate Shatrughan Sinha won by a margin of 3,04,351 votes, as he received a total of 6,56,358 in comparison to BJP’s Agnimitra Paul who received 3,52,043 votes.

West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee thanked the electors of the Asansol Parliamentary Constituency and the Ballygunge Assembly Constituency for giving a decisive mandate to AITC party candidates. She further said that this win is a ‘Nababarsho’ gift from people to her party.

“I sincerely thank the electors of the Asansol Parliamentary Constituency and the Ballygunge Assembly Constituency for giving decisive mandate to AITC party candidates,” Mamata Banerjee tweeted.

“We consider this to be our people’s warm Shubho Nababarsho gift to our Ma- Mati- Manush organization. Salute to the voters for reposing faith in us, yet again,” she tweeted.

Shatrughan Sinha also thanked voters and tweeted, “My most sincere thanks to the wonderful people of Asansol for their massive expression of support to me. I am overwhelmed and also humbled by the love and affection showered on me by the lovely people of Asansol, Bengal…..and feel both delighted and blessed at the same time”
