Mamata Banerjee urges all political parties in Darjeeling to stop fighting

On Tuesday West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee while addressing at a programme in Chowrasta urged all top political parties in the hills of North Bengal to work together for the development of the region.

She said, “Promise me, that you will not fight for the next 10 years, just work for the people. You work for the hills with your mind and see where Darjeeling-Kurseong reaches.”

Talking about the students credit card she said that 21000 students have been provided with expenses upto Rs. 10 lakh for their education.

“21,000 students of West Bengal have been provided with the student credit cards for their educational expenses upto Rs 10 lakh, we are in the process of adding more students to the list gradually,” said Mamata Banerjee.

Talking about the project for the hills, Mamata said that ‘Chaa Sundari Scheme’ has been launched in the state under which 3,80,000 families will be provided homes. She further said that before TMC came to power tea labourers used to get only Rs 67 but now they are getting paid Rs 202 as daily wage.
