N Biren Singh Takes Oath as Chief Minister of Manipur For Second Straight Term
On Monday N Biren Singh took oath as the Chief Minister of Manipur in Imphal, for the second term.
Singh was administered the oath of office by the state’s Governor La Ganesan at Raj Bhawan in the capital Imphal.
BJP confirmed its return to power in Manipur, with the party bagging 32 seats in the 60-member Assembly.
Congress bagged five seats and the NPP won seven seats. Naga People’s Front bagged five and the Kuki People’s Alliance got two seats. JD(U) bagged 6 seats and Independent candidates bagged three seats.
BJP national president JP Nadda arrived in Manipur ahead of the ceremony, and was welcomed by Singh.
Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Kiren Rijiju also congratulated the re-elected leader on Twitter.
“Heartiest Congratulations to Shri N Biren Singh Ji on being elected the Leader of the BJP Manipur Legislative Party. Under your able leadership, the State has achieved great heights of progress & glory. Wishing you a great success & many accolades for the state & her people,” tweeted G Kishan Reddy.
“Congratulations to N Biren Singh Ji on being elected as the leader of BJP Manipur Legislature Party. Manipur will witness more progress as per the vision of hon’ble PM Narendra Modi Ji and the aspirations of the people of Manipur,” tweeted Union law minister Kiren Rijiju.
