Over 3 lakh children in 12-14 age group vaccinated on first day

According to the Union health ministry’s updated data on Thursday morning over 3 lakh children between 12 and 14 years have received their first shot of Covid vaccine taking the total doses administered in the country to over 180.80 crores.

The vaccination started on Wednesday and the vaccine which is being administered to the 12 and 14 years children is Corbevax two doses of which are to be administered 28 days apart.

More than 1.05 crore precaution doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to those aged above 60 years.

On Monday (14 March) the Health Ministry announced plans to expand the programme further to include the 12-14-year age group. The centre also announced that it has decided to remove the condition of co-morbidity for COVID19 Precaution Dose for population over 60 years. With this the entire population above 60 years of age will be eligible for precaution doses of COVID19 vaccine.
