PM Modi, Amit Shah pays tribute to freedom fighter Babu Jagjivan Ram on his birth anniversary
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to Babu Jagjivan Ram Ji on his birth anniversary.
In a tweet, the Prime Minister said that Babu Jagjivan Ram Ji will always be remembered by the nation for his contribution during the freedom movement and even after Independence.
“Tributes to Babu Jagjivan Ram Ji on his birth anniversary. Our nation will always remember his remarkable contribution be it during the freedom movement or after Independence. He was widely admired for his administrative skills and concern for the poor,” tweeted PM Modi.
Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tributes to Babu Jagjivan Ram Ji.
“The life of Babu Jagjivan Ram ji, synonymous with equality and struggle, was devoted to the upliftment and empowerment of the downtrodden, downtrodden and weaker sections of the society. His dedication to India’s independence and post-independence development of the nation is commendable. Salute to such a pioneer of social justice on his birth anniversary,” tweeted Amit Shah in Hindi.
Born in Bihar in 1908, Babu Jagjivan was the defence minister of India during the India-Pakistan war of 1971. Babu Jagjivan Ram was also the deputy prime minister of the country between 1977 and 1979.
During India’s Independent movement, Babu Jagjivan Ram worked towards equality for the ‘untouchables’.
