Ripun Bora, Former Assam Congress Chief Resigns From Party, Joins TMC
Former Assam Congress President Ripun Bora on Sunday joined the All India Trinamool Congress in Kolkata becoming the latest leader to leave the Congress in Assam.
On Sunday evening Bora tweeted, “From today I have started my new political journey!” and also shared his resignation letter, addressed to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
“I have been associated with INC since 1976, right from my student life and during this long period I served the party at different capacity with party and constitutional posts, but today with heavy heart, I tender my resignation,” Bora wrote in his resignation letter.
“Delighted to welcome Shri @ripunbora, Former Minister of Panchayat & Rural Development, Minister of Education in Assam, former Rajya Sabha MP & former President of Assam Pradesh Congress committee!” All India Trinamool Congress wrote on their official Twitter handle.
General Secretary of AITC Abhishek Banerjee also welcomed Ripun Bora and tweeted, “Extending a very warm welcome to Shri @ripunbora, a stalwart and skilled politician, who joined the @AITCofficial family today.We are extremely pleased to have you onboard and look forward to working together for the well-being of our people!”
