The National Highway that connects Siliguri and Sikkim has been blocked at 29th Mile

The National Highway that connects Siliguri and Sikkim has been blocked at 29th Mile, Rangpo due to the massive landslide that occurred this morning at around 7 am. This route is the most important pathway which connects Sikkim to the Plains of Siliguri.

The NH10 connects Sikkim’s  Rangpo to Kalimpong District and Darjeeling. The neighboring state Sikkim and various districts of Kalimpong can witness heavy rainfall in the coming days. An orange alert has also been sounded by the Met for the same.

According to locals, the heavy rainfall on Saturday night led to this massive mishap. The administration rushed to the spot and the clearance work has begun. However, The highway still remains closed and is expected to be cleared within a day or two.
